Misheard Conversation Sparks Lockdowns

Local law enforcement officers were out in force Tuesday on the Brevard College campus.

Brevard College's two-and-a-half hour lockdown on Tuesday began as the result of a concerned grandmother's call to the college because she overheard her granddaughter discussing a five-month-old shooting in Brevard.

Her granddaughter, a Yancey County high school freshman visiting the college with her class Tuesday, had been telling her friends about a shooting that took place in October on Whitmire Street and Burrell Mountain Road.
