Bowling Tourney To Benefit Children With Cancer To Be Held On March 15

March 8, 2018

Rockin’ Bowl, along with St. Baldrick’s of Transylvania County, will host the 2nd annual Strike Out Childhood Cancer bowling tournament on Thursday, March 15, at 6 p.m. The cost is $20 per person, or $100 for a team up to eight.

All proceeds will go to St Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants worldwide. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

The foundation is known for its signature head-shaving events where volunteers shave their heads to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Teams from Dugan’s Pub, Carpet and More, Brevard Fire Department, Brevard Police Department, DD Bullwinkel’s, Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, SAFE’s Attic Interiors, Charlie’s Tire, David’s Auto, Going Green Builders, and New PECO have already signed up to participate.

This year’s event is organized by Barbara Ritchey of Pisgah Forest, whose daughter, Becky, is a childhood cancer survivor. The bowling tournament is only one of many fundraisers leading up to the main event on Sept. 22 at Ecusta Brew-ing Company. That is when volunteers will have their heads shaved to raise money for critical, life-saving research for kids with cancer, kids like Sophie Hannah, Holmes Desmelik and Julia Israel.
