Brevard's Savannah Alston high-fives head coach David McNeill as she rounds third base after smacking a three-run homer to open up a 6-0 lead for the Lady Blue Devils over Rosman in Saturday's softball rivalry game. Alston was 2-for-2 on the day with 4 RBIs.

In round one of the county's annual softball rivalry, Brevard left little to debate on Saturday afternoon, pounding on 11 runs on 15 hits and holding the Lady Tigers scoreless to pick up their third win of the year.

The Lady Blue Devils got the bats going early as they eclipsed the 10-run barrier once again.

Rosman pitcher Hope Taylor got the first two Brevard batters out before Brooke Nanney singled and scored on a double from Sydney Gilbert in the next at bat.

Consecutive singles from Katherine Heart and Brinley Horrell drove two more runs across the plate before Savannah Alston belted a three-run homer to center field, giving Brevard a 6-0 lead.

The Lady Blue Devils went deep again in the second inning, this time off a two-run shot from Nanney.

Brevard tacked on two more runs in the inning off RBIs from Keally Owen and Alston.

On the other side, Gilbert's pitching kept the Lady Tigers' bats in check all day.

Rosman only got one baserunner to third base the entire game – with Abby Rice advancing to third in the top of the first inning.

Gilbert gave up her first hit to Emma Galloway in the second inning and surrendered a long double to left field from Kaitlin Connor in the fourth inning.

Rosman's Kaitlin Connor follows a deep fly ball to left field after connecting with a pitch in the top of the fourth inning. Connor recorded one of two hits for the Lady Tigers on the day.

Other than that, the sophomore was nearly perfect, striking out nine batters on the afternoon.

Taylor Miner recorded Brevard's final RBI in the fourth inning that scored Chloe Owen.

Gilbert quickly retired the bottom of the order in the fifth to lock up Brevard's win.

The win marks the fifth straight victory for the Lady Blue Devils over their rivals.

Brevard improved to 3-0 on the year, with Rosman falling to 1-3 after having lost to Hiwassee Dam 11-0 last Thursday.

Brevard enjoys a week off before they face Tuscola on the road next Monday.

Rosman was slated to play East Henderson on Monday and hosts Andrews on Tuesday and Murphy on Friday.
