Brevard Golf Wins Second Straight, Blue Devil Baseball Falls To Franklin

The Brevard High School boys’ golf team won their second straight tournament on Tuesday at Waynesville Country Club.

The Blue Devils shot a low score of 317 to beat Pisgah (334), Franklin (356) and Smoky Mountain (358).

Will Byrd and Hank Hardesty posted the low score on the day, with both shooting a 77 over 18 holes.

Graham Phillips wasn’t far off the pace, shooting an 80. Ryan Chesna shot an 83 and Matthew Case finished with a 94.

Brevard’s next match is set for March 19 at Mill Creek Country Club, in Franklin.

On the diamond, the Brevard Blue Devils ran into a buzzsaw, as they lost to Franklin on the road by a final of 20-0.

It was another tough showing for the defense, as Brevard committed nine errors on the day.

The loss drops Brevard to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain Six Conference.

The Blue Devils return to the field Friday when they host Smoky Mountain.
