Brevard Baseball Falls To Tuscola, Smoky Mountain

Brevard's Mitchell Johnson got the start on the hill last Thursday against Tuscola. The junior gave up three earned runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings of work.

It was a tough 48 hours for the Brevard Blue Devils last week as they saw two leads slip away – including a Friday loss in extra innings to Smoky Mountain.

On Thursday, Brevard built a 5-2 lead against Tuscola before the Mountaineers rallied for five runs in the top of the fourth and tacked on three more in the sixth, going on to win 11-8.

Tuscola scored two runs to lead things off in the first inning before Brevard cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first as Jay Smith scored from third base on a passed ball.
