The Transylvania Times -

Local Republican Party To Hold Candidate Forum

March 29, 2018

The Republican Party of Transylvania County will hold an open GOP candidate political forum showcasing candidates in the upcoming May 8 GOP primary. The event will be held on Monday, April 16, at the Brevard High School Auditorium and will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the event and all registered voters of Transyl-vania County are invited to attend regardless of their party affiliation.

Since there are several contested races on the GOP ballot, citizens will get a chance to hear these candidates state their positions before early voting begins.

The most significant races are the Congressional, County Commission, District Attorney and the Clerk of Superior Court races.

Invitations have been sent to all local GOP candidates, including the congressional contested race of the 11th district, the District Attorney race, County Commission and the Clerk of Superior Court race. Those GOP candidates that are not opposed in the primary will also have a chance to state their platforms as well. They include the Sheriff’s race, N.C. state house seat and a N.C. state senator’s race. Any contested statewide GOP candidates will also be invited.

The Transylvania County Republican Party welcomes all to attend. This is not a debate, but a forum where candidates share positions and make appeals to the voting attendees. For more information on the event, email sammykicklighter@gmail.com.
