Brevard College Recognizes Students For Academic Accomplishments

Brevard College held its annual Honors and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 4, to honor student, faculty and staff achievement in academics and leadership.

The following academic divisions held events to recognize students: Business and Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Division of Humanities, Divisions of Mathematics and Sciences, Psychology, Teacher Education, and Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education.

The following local students, as well as the award they received and the academic division, are: From Brevard, Stephanie Ball, Peer Leader of the Year, Campus Life; Rachel Byrd, Highest GPA - Freshman, Art; Rebecca Harris, Dedicated Service to Alpha Phi Sigma, Social Science and Exceptional Scholastic Achievement in Criminal Justice - Sophomore, Social Science; Haley Putnam, Outstanding Student in Psychology/ Highest GPA (4.0), Social Science, and Exceptional Research in Psychology, Social Science; Clara Reichart, Highest GPA - Sophomore, Theatre; and Jeni Welch, The Clarion, Humanities.

From Lake Toxaway, Daniel Trey Brown, Outstanding History Major, Humanities; and Kara Salz, Citizenship Award - Health Science Studies, Science & Math.

From Penrose, Casey Whitmire, Outstanding Art – Advancement, Art.

From Pisgah Forest, Suzanne Ashmore, Citizenship Award - Mathematics, Science & Math; Justin Harris, Highest GPA - Health Science Studies, Science & Math; Anna Marie Heard, Outstanding Senior Award, Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education (WLEE); Jordan Morgan, editor, The Clarion, Humanities; and Shane Sentelle, Excellence in Literary Criticism, Humanities.
