Clarkes Celebrating 60th Wedding Anniversary

William D. Clarke III (Billy) and Marianna Johnston Clarke are celebrating their 60th anniversary this week. They were married in their hometown of Tampa, Fla., at Palma Ceia Baptist Church, April 18, 1958, 16 years to the day after the Doolittle Raid over Japan.

He served a 22-year career in the United States Air Force and earned two engineering degrees. When he retired, they returned to Tampa, where he worked in a family company. He then earned a masters and a doctorate in experimental psychology, and taught at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

She has degrees in education and Latin. She and her sister started a Christian classical school in 1999, which thrives to this day.

They have three daughters, Jennie, Melanie, and Lindsay; three sons-in-law; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate the anniversary and a family reunion in Thonotosassa, Fla. later in April.

The Clarkes retired in Tampa and moved to Brevard in 2006, where they enjoy the Brevard Music Center, the mountains, and the friendly people they have met. They are active members of the First Baptist Church in Brevard, and serve the Lord as best they can.
