I met Ike (not his real name) at a NAMI meeting. He had just been released from prison. I never found out why he had been there. His quiet, sweet manner belied any violence.

He was a “bear” of a young man who had shown great promise and was highly educated. He was deeply interested in literature, religion and other people.

He also enjoyed music, baseball and the natural world. He was very interested in family history and collected and preserved numerous photographs, home movies and memorabilia.
