Lady Blue Devil shortstop Hannah Cabe dives in to apply the tag to an East Henderson baserunner as she tries to advance to second in Friday's afternoon game. Brevard rolled past the Eagles 17-1 to score their eighth straight win.

The Brevard Lady Blue Devils kept making it look easy last Thursday as they rolled past East Henderson 17-1 to pick up their eighth straight victory.

The Eagles took a brief 1-0 lead to start the top of the first, but the rest of the day was all Brevard.

A double from Brooke Nanney in the bottom of the inning scored Hannah Cabe, and Sydney Gilbert homered in the next at bat to put Brevard ahead 3-0.

The Lady Blue Devils tacked on three more runs in the second inning off RBIs from Cabe, Nanney and Kathryn Hart.

That set up a monster 10-run third inning highlighted by a double from Nanney that cleared all three bases.

More RBIs came from Taylor Sales, Gilbert, Taylor Miner, Cabe and Makenna Wilson.

Savannah Alston drove in Brevard's final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the circle, Gilbert allowed five hits and one earned run scattered over five innings.

Nanney finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored.

The win improves Brevard's record to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain Six Conference.

It also sets up a big showdown at home on Tuesday as the Lady Blue Devils take on Franklin.

The Panthers are undefeated and handed Brevard their only conference loss, 4-2, in March.

That is the first of five home games Brevard has to close out the regular season.
