The death of Barbara Bush has engendered mostly public praise, but also some criticism, largely depending on where one falls on the almighty political scale.

I will remember her as a member of the Greatest Generation, as the wife and mother of a president, as a lady who (mostly) spoke her mind when asked, and as someone who survived life in the Washington fish bowl without public complaint.

Mostly, however, I will remember her candid and public stance on the ugly and polarized state of politics in today’s America.
