It's Turkey Hunting Season In N.C.

Statewide turkey season opened April 14 and will run through May 12.

The second Saturday of April marks the opening of the general turkey-hunting season across the state each year. As one of three of North Carolina's big game species, this majestic bird provides hunters a real challenge to harvest. Known for its keen eye sight and hearing, it is often said if they had the sense of smell of a deer or bear no one would ever kill one.

Although hunting techniques vary, it is the calling that allows the hunter to interact with the game that sets turkey hunting apart from most other game hunted.
