Early Voting For Primary Ends This Saturday -Brevard NC

Early voting for the Tuesday, May 8, primary ends at noon this Saturday.

Through Tuesday, 914 votes have been cast during early voting.

This includes 575 in the Republican primary and 339 in the Democratic primary.

Early voting is held at the Election Center Meeting Room, 150 S. Gaston St., Brevard.

The early voting times are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. today and Friday.

On Saturday early voting will be available from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, the polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The following races are on the ballot:

•Will Cathey, David Guice and Danny Hein are running for two seats in the Republican Party primary for the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners.

No Democrats filed for the two open seats.

•Incumbent Kristi Brown and Jason Robert Chappell, a current county commissioner, are running in the Republican primary for clerk of Superior Court.

No Democratic candidate filed.

•D. Scott Donaldson, Phillip Price and Steve Woodsmall have filed for the Democratic primary for the U.S. House seat for District 11.

•Incumbent U.S. Rep Mark Meadows and Chuck Archerd are competing for the Republican Party nomination for the District 11 seat.

•Mary Ann Hollocker and incumbent Greg Newman are competing in the Republican primary for the District Attorney District 42 seat. No Democratic candidate filed.

Important Dates

•Absentee ballots must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m., May 8.

•Official canvass meeting is 11 a.m., May 18.

•Judicial offices filing period is noon, June 18, to noon, June 29.

•Soil & Water Conservation District Board filing period (filing fee: $5) is noon, June 11, to noon, July 6.

•General election is Nov. 4.
