Brevard Defeats Maiden, Advances To Third Round

Brevard senior Cullen Duval hits a return during his No. 4 singles match Tuesday against Maiden. Duval ultimately picked up the victory, helping Brevard defeat the visitors, 5-0, and advance to the third round of the 2A dual team playoffs. Duval will also compete in the 2A doubles championship this weekend, with partner Aidan Spradlin.

Brevard's second round dual team playoff match against Maiden had a little bit of everything: a late start, a rain delay and a venue change.

However, when all was said and done, the Blue Devils found themselves in a familiar position – advancing to the third round of the 2A dual team playoffs for the fifth straight year.

Tuesday's match was slated to begin at 3:30 p.m., but didn't start until nearly 4:45 p.m. as the visitors got lost in traffic on the way to Brevard College's McCoy Tennis Complex.
