Transylvania Battered By Heavy Rains

This portion of Wilson Road, between U.S. 276 and Elm Bend Road, fell away Wednesday morning because of the rains.

Transylvania County survived an onslaught of rain Wednesday morning, a few accidents and some flooding.

Wilson Road was also badly damaged.

"Wilson Road (between U.S. 276 and Elm Bend Road) has been the worst of it right now," said Kevin Shook, emergency management coordinator for Transylvania County, on Wednesday.

David Uchiyama, N.C. Department of Transportation (DOT) communications officer, said the portion of Wilson Road has been closed "indefinitely."
