Sara Champion Receives The Liston B. Ramsey Award

The Transylvania County Democratic Party has announced that Sara Champion, chair of the Transylvania County Board of Elections, is the recipient of the Liston B. Ramsey Award for Democrat of the Year for Transylvania County.

Champion was presented the award at the May 15, Democratic Party Executive Committee meeting. She was also honored at the NC 11th Congressional District Convention held on May 5 at the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort in Waynesville.

Champion is a resident of Brevard, and is an active member of the Democratic Party and of the community at large. She has lived

in Brevard for the past

34 years.

In addition to her service as a member of and now chairman of the Transylvania County Board of Elections, Champion has been an experienced voice in Democratic Party planning and organizing.

In other civic volunteer service, she worked with the Brevard Planning Board and Brevard City Council. She has also served on the Transylvania Endowment Board.

Champion is active in her church and has served as deacon, elder and family ministries chair. She sings with her church choir and with the Transylvania Choral Society.

Champion is an active member of the business community and has 27 years of experience in the real estate profession.
