County 4-H'ers Qualify For State 4-H Horse Show

Abigail Field and Noble Status

Two members of Transylvania County's Creekside Riders 4-H Club competed in the West District 4-H Horse Show at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center on May 6. Both Abigail Gant and Abigail Field earned the required number of points at this show to qualify for the State 4-H Horse Show to be held in Raleigh July 4-8 at the Governor James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex.

Gant rode The Smooth Criminal in the Senior levels of the Western Dressage, Western and Ranch divisions. She was recognized with an award for the highest score in the Intro Level Western Dressage division.

Field competed in the Senior Non-trotting Division on Noble Status. They placed second in Showmanship at Halter and third in Non-trotting two Gait.

4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills through pursuing their interests in a variety of topics. In North Carolina, it is provided by Cooperative Extension in each county with North Carolina State University, North Carolina A & T State University, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and local governments cooperating. It is open to all youths ages 5 to 18 years old.
