Board Backs 2.5-Cents Tax Hike For Courthouse

A 2.5-cents property tax increase to help pay for the proposed new courthouse is scheduled to be approved as part of the county’s 2019 fiscal year budget.

During this past Thursday’s budget workshop, the Board of Commissioners reached unanimous consensus on the tax increase for the courthouse.

Commissioners are scheduled to approve the final budget at their June 25 meeting before the new fiscal year begins on July 1.

Public hearings on the budget are also proposed for June 12 and June 25.
