The Transylvania County Library's Summer Concert Series is in gear and the Friends of the Library are proud to host singer-songwriter Dori Freeman this Friday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the library's amphitheater.

Raised among a family of bluegrass musicians in her hometown of Galax, Va., Freeman set out at an early age to carve her own path into folk and country music. The New York Times named her self-titled debut one of the best albums of 2016. With an Appalachian dialect and tone, Freeman delivers a modern and honest perspective to traditional music.

"I don't try to overdo any songs or put on big theatrics. I think simple is better," she said.

The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. Proceeds from Friends' memberships and from book room sales help pay for all of the programming at the library.
