The 1948 graduates of Brevard High School held their 70th reunion on June 8, 2018 at Pisgah Fish Camp from noon to 3 p.m. There were 77 members of the class at graduation. Fifty-five of those are now deceased. Twelve live in Transylvania County, four live in other parts of North Carolina and six live in other states. Nine attended from Transylvania; Louise Heath Cotton traveled from Pineville, La .; J.O. Brooks lives in Atlanta and Wayne Frady lives in Hendersonville.

Wayne Frady led in a blessing for the food. After the meal letters were read from graduates who were unable to attend. Martha Tinsley and Margaret Kilstrom read letters, cards or related phone messages.

J.O. Brooks, class vice-president, led in a memorial service for fourteen deceased classmates since the 67th reunion in 2015. Those remembered were Sarah McMahan, Janie Nicholson Clemmer, Winston Merrill, Charles McCrary, Cecil Rogers, Ruth Gaines Honeycutt, Brona Galloway Dunn, Bobby Merrill, Maisie Holden Talmadge, Robert Hunter, Lillian Gravely Sheets, Fred Kilstrom, Paul Lance and Helen Kinsey Hensley.

On a table nearby was a flower arrangement of fourteen yellow roses (the class flower), a large white candle and a decorated cake, which was served as dessert.

Flossie Barton shared (from memory) some of the poems she had written. Martha Tinsley led in a quiz about the ten reunions (1958, 1988, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2013, 2015 and 2018). Margaret Kilstrom read an article, "We are Survivors." She had written and read a "Jingle-Jangle" (as she called it) for this reunion. She then gave a devotional based on aging and Psalm 92:12-14. As the group picture was taken the finale of the day was the group singing the school song.

An additional group attending included spouses, family members, close friends, "drivers" and a photographer brought the total attending to 28. It was decided that the class would meet again next year for a time of fellowship. The reunion committee was Martha Tinsley, Flossie Barton and Margaret Kilstrom.
