Town Of Rosman Strikes Leachate Deal With Gaia Herbs

The town of Rosman has entered into an agreement with Gaia Herbs to take up to two truck loads, about 4,000 gallons, of leachate, Monday through Friday, from its plant and process it through the town’s wastewater treatment system. Leachate is water that has percolated through a solid. The town will charge Gaia $75 per load.

During the town’s Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday, Mayor Brian Shelton described the agreement as similar to the one the county has with the landfill, and that right now the biological oxygen demand (BOD) coming from Gaia Herbs measures at 25,000 BOD. BOD is the...
