TC Arts Council Hosts 46th Fine Arts & Crafts Showcase

The Transylvania Community Arts Council invites everyone to enjoy Arts & Culture Celebration from June 22 - July 4.

Tammy Hopkins, executive director of the TC Arts Council, said, “This is a celebration of all arts and culture in Brevard and Transylvania County. With more than 160 events in two weeks, we hope members of the community and visitors alike will get out and try something new. Not only can you enjoy the arts as a spectator, but you can participate in the arts with street dances, music jams, art classes, open mic nites and guided walks.”

Sponsors for the 2018 Arts & Culture Celebration include the City of Brevard, Transylvania County, Audrey Love Charitable Foundation, N.C. Arts Council and the TC Arts Council.

The Arts & Culture Celebration kicks-off on Friday, June 22 with the Brevard Music Center’s opening concert and the Brevard 4th Friday Gallery Walk. Other events during the celebration include: an open mic night for writers, Appalachian mountain music jams, old-time street dances, art exhibits, Hunger Games Film Location Tours, Brevard Food Bites Tours, artist demonstrations, summer art camps, Songcatcher’s Music Series at the Cradle of Forestry, art programs and concerts at the Transylvania County Library, concerts at the Brevard Music Center, the Transylvania Art Guild’s Summer Showcase at the TC Arts Council, concerts at 185 King Street, Wine Down, and the B & B Feed & Music.

Arts & Culture Celebration ends with a bang at the 4th of July Celebration to be held on Wednesday, July 4, in downtown Brevard on Main Street from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with the TC Arts Council’s 46th annual Fine Arts & Crafts Showcase as part of the downtown festivities. The downtown festival is put on by the Heart of Brevard and includes vendors, music, a classic car show, a 5K run, and a fireworks extravaganza at 9:30 p.m. at Brevard College.

There will also be a Duck Race at 6 p.m. at Kings Creek at Brevard College put on by the TC Arts Council to raise funds for youth art scholarships.

The Duck Race will be followed by a birthday cake celebration for the city of Brevard’s 150th birthday.

Also on July 4 at the Brevard Music Center, enjoy the Pendergrast Family Pops Concert at 2 p.m.
