County Halts Courthouse Plans, Drops Tax Hike-Brevard NC

During a nearly five-hour meeting Monday, Transylvania County commissioners approved a $51.6 million budget for the 2019 fiscal year, ceased all current work on a new courthouse until a later date and dropped a proposed 2.5-cents property tax increase.

Commissioners made the decisions after hearing from more than 20 people (see below) who opposed building a new courthouse on Morris Road beside the public safety facility.
