What does it mean to be an American?

For Theresa Morgan, “It means freedom. I know that sounds trite. It’s the freedom to define myself, to express myself.”

And every American, regardless of where they were born, has that freedom to define and express one’s self.

Morgan was born in 1957 in Inchon, South Korea, just a few years after the armistice was signed to end the Korean War. She was born to Korean parents, but between the ages of 5-7 she was adopted by an American serviceman and his Korean wife.
