State Assessing Chlorine Spill In River-Rosman NC

N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission and N.C. Department of Environ-mental Quality officials are investigating the chlorine spill into the French Broad River that took place last week.

As previously reported, a valve left open in a chlorine tank at the Rosman Champion Park pool last Tuesday resulted in 250 gallons of chlorine spilling into the French Broad River, killing thousands of fish, according to Rosman Mayor Brian Shelton.

Shelton said that the valve was mistakenly left open when a company came to refill the tank, and that since the pool was built in 1979, the floor drain underneath...
