Houston Scout Troop 604 Visits WNC Military History Museum

Scouts take an indoor break from their week of outdoor activities in Transylvania County. Here they learn history and life lessons from their scoutmaster during a July 4 visit to the museum.

Thirteen Scouts from Troop 604 of Houston, Texas, received some insights about military service from their leader during their visit to Brevard's WNC Military History Museum on July 4.

Scoutmaster Ed Sherwood is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm (the 1990 "first Iraq" war), three tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan (serving in an Apache helicopter combat search and rescue unit). After a detailed tour of the museum, Sherwood gathered his charges in the museum's lecture room to help them understand the importance of what they had seen.
