Scouts Build Pollinator Garden At DuPont Forest's Visitor Center

The Aleen Steinberg Visitor Center at DuPont State Recreational Forest has become a better environment for a different kind of visitor: Monarch butterflies and other pollinators.

On Saturday, May 12, Boy Scouts from Troop 622 out of Mills River United Methodist Church installed a garden designed to help pollinating insects and Monarch butterflies. The project was led by Eagle Scout candidate, Mark Ward.

Along with Ward, Boy Scouts Nicky Aguilar, Kenneth Smith, Alex Headrick, Gabriel Grieme and Kevin Burton prepared the site for planting and installed plants attractive to Monarch butterfli...
