Doggy Day Out Ready To Take The Lead - Brevard NC

The life of a dog in a shelter is stressful and lonely, which is why Joleen Brannigan is seeking approval for a "Doggy Day Out" program, which would allow for dogs to leave the county shelter for a day.

"It would be a win on several levels," said Brannigan, a volunteer and rescue coordinator for the Transylvania County Animal Shelter. "A lot of people aren't able to adopt a dog, and for dogs in the shelter, they aren't able to get the exercise and socialization they need, so it would benefit them, the shelter staff, the county and people who can't have a dog who would like to get the dog...
