Hometown Hardware Repeats As Rec League Champions

It was a different season, but the same result, as Hometown Hardware defeated the Monstars, 106-94, last Thursday to win their second consecutive Battle for the Belt adult recreation league title. Pictured, from left to right, are Ben Hardin, Alex Biggerstaff, Jonathan Whitson, Taylor McCurry, Casey Kruk, David Singleton, Jake Robinson, Robbie Robinson and Zack Jaynes. Whitson, who scored a season-high 44 points in the championship game, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Top seeded Hometown Hardware used an explosive first half and a season high 44 points from Jonathan Whitson to hold off a talented Monstars team 106-94 for their second consecutive Battle for the Belt championship last Thursday night.

Whitson, who entered the game 6 of 30 from behind the arc in nine games this season, connected on 7 of 11 from long range earning him the Tournament Most Outstanding Player award.

A competitive first quarter highlighted by six lead changes ended with HH holding a 29-22 advantage.
