This weekend the 2018 college football season hits full stride, and as is all too often the case, it is being accompanied by scandals. This year the scandals involve a player’s death, domestic violence and a cover-up.

On May 29, Jordan McNair, a redshirt freshman on the University of Maryland football team, suffered a heatstroke during offseason conditioning drills. Instead of adhering to the university’s guidelines of immersing McNair in cold water to treat the condition, football staff walked McNair around the field before calling EMTs.
