Brevard Defeats Draughn Following Delayed Kickoff

Brevard quarterback Mitchell Johnson drops back in the pocket ready to fire the deep ball Friday night against Draughn. Johnson and the Blue Devil receivers came alive against the Wildcats, as the senior threw four touchdown passes on the night to help Brevard roll to a 39-8 victory.

There were power outages, there were weather delays and, in the end, there was a football game.

After finally taking the field more than 90 minutes after the scheduled 7:30 p.m. kickoff, the Brevard Blue Devils steamrolled over the Draughn Wildcats, 39-8, Friday night.

And while Brevard dominated once the whistle blew, it seemed the fates had conspired to stop the game before it even began.

"Never in 14 years of coaching have I experienced anything like I did tonight," said Blue Devil head coach Craig Pritchett after the game.

The initial problem was a power outage to the stadium cause...
