County Schools Demonstrate Value Of Safety

In the mid to late ‘70s, many people felt that U.S. schools were falling behind in key subjects like science and math. One of the ideas that took root was the moving of teachers from behind their closed classroom doors. Designers of schools believed that removing classroom walls would encourage greater collaboration among teachers who had previously been islands unto themselves. This new idea resonated with many who believed that traditional educational settings were stifling creativity.
