PARI To Present Pisgah Nights 'Nocturnal Animals' Sept. 21

September 17, 2018

On Friday, Sept. 21, the Learning Center at PARI will present its first quarterly special event, Pisgah Nights, featuring WNC Nature Center’s Tori Duval. Duval will present an informative, hands-on presentation called “Nocturnal Animals” that will allow guests to interact with live, nocturnal creatures during the discussion.

Each Pisgah Nights event will begin with dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7 p.m. At the presentation’s conclusion, guests will be able to tour the Learning Center’s exhibit galleries. Weather permitting, the evening will conclude with a trip to the Sky Deck, where Learning Center educators and volunteers will point out the constellations and use telescopes to view the night sky.

“We are very excited to launch this new series at our campus,” said Learning Center Director John Holloway. “We look forward to provide fun, engaging speakers and memorable, educational experiences for visitors of all ages. We are honored to have Tori and the WNC Nature Center as our special guest presenter for the debut of Pisgah Nights.”

The event will take place regardless of the weather, so attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately and wear comfortable walking shoes. Each participant will also have the opportunity to have a photo taken with a Learning Center telescope and will receive a subscription to the Learning Center’s newsletter.

Reservations are required and will be accepted until 3 p.m. the day of the event. The cost is $40 per adult, $35 for seniors/active military, $30 per student ages 11-18, and $20 per child ages 6-10 (all prices include dinner). Children 5 and under are admitted free (including a free dinner). For additional information, contact Chelena Blythe at, or call the Learning Center at (828) 862-5554.
