James "Jim" Brown Wright - Brevard NC

James “Jim” Brown Wright, 86, of Brevard, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Margaret Dunley Wright.

He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. In 1954 he returned to school and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1956.

After graduation, he worked for Sears in a management capacity for several years before taking a management position with Wickes Corporation.

He and his wife, Barbara, later owned an accounting, tax and investment business in St. Charles, Mo., before retiring and moving to Brevard in 1999, where they enjoyed a number of activities. Most of all, he just enjoyed living in Western North Carolina.

His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Johnson Wright; children, Karen Zaret, of Park Forest, Ill., Steve Wright, of Mesa, Ariz., Sarah Wright, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patty Steinhauser, of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Larry Wright, of Noblesville, Ind .; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
