Rice Street Garden Holds Potato Treasure Hunt - Brevard NC

On Oct. 4, Rice Street Community Garden held its annual treasure hunt - for sweet potatoes.

Karen Palmer, Kristine Hall and Lynne Urbain helped Bill Chandler, the garden's workday coordinator, harvest 149 pounds of sweet potatoes. It was the garden's largest potato harvest ever.

Once the crop has cured for two weeks in Chandler's garage, he will deliver the potatoes to Sharing House and Bread of Life.

All of the garden's produce goes to help hungry families and individuals in Brevard and the county.

Digging for the sweet potatoes is kind of like a treasure hunt.
