Brevard College Football student-athletes Dalton Cole and Trevon Charles have been named as weekly USA South Conference award recipients for their performance in BC's 41-36 victory over Methodist University.

The selections mark the first-ever conference awards for Brevard College football as a member of the USA South Conference, as Brevard was ineligible for conference awards last year in its transition into the NCAA Division III ranks.

Cole was named the USA South Conference's Offensive Rookie of the Week, while Trevon Charles was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Cole, a freshman quarterback from Hendersonville, passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in the 41-36 victory over USA South foe Methodist.

Through the air, Cole was 21-of-33 for 292 yards, while his one-yard score on the ground gave the Tornados a lead they would not relinquish.

Charles, a sophomore defensive back from Miami, Fla., averaged 53.5 yards per kickoff return in a 41-36 victory over USA South foe Methodist.

Charles' long return of 84 yards set up the Tornados on the Monarch one-yard line and led to an easy touchdown.

Additionally, he blocked a Methodist punt which was recovered by Brevard in the end zone for a touchdown.

Next up for Cole and Charles, and the rest of the 2018 Brevard College Tornados football team is a game this Saturday in Montgomery, Ala. against defending USA South Conference champion Huntingdon College. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m
