First Round Of Volleyball Playoffs Set For Tuesday Night - Brevard NC

October 22, 2018

It’s playoff time once again as the NCHSAA volleyball postseason officially tips off on Tuesday night.

This comes one week after the Brevard Lady Blue Devils and Rosman Lady Tigers wrapped up their regular season and conference tournament.

Brevard made it to the finals of the Mountain Six tournament, but lost in four sets to East Henderson.

The Lady Blue Devils finish the season 20-5 and won the regular season conference title.

As of Monday morning, the Lady Blue Devils were third in the MaxPreps 2A poll.

That should ensure them at least a pair of home matches, the first being Tuesday and the second round match being Thursday.

The third round match would be played on Saturday.

As for Rosman, the Lady Tigers made it to the second round of the Smoky Mountain tournament, after defeating Swain County in the first round.

Rosman lost to eventual champion Murphy in the second round.

The Lady Tigers finish their season with a 10-14 overall record, with a 5-7 mark in the Smoky Mountain Conference.

They are tied for fourth with Swain, but hold a tie-breaker over the Maroon Devils, as they won two of the three meetings between them.

The MaxPreps 1A rankings have Rosman at 49th, meaning they will probably make the playoffs, but it’s unlikely they will receive a home match.

The final playoff brackets were released on Monday, but not in time for publication.

Brackets will be available online at http://www.nchsaa.org.
