Mountain Sun Students Learn At Lake Jocassee

Headwaters Outfitters lent the Coyote class all of the gear they needed for their four day trip on Jocassee.

The sun breached over the mountains, oars created the sweet sound of a gentle wake, and 300 feet below the Coyote class is the submerged Jocassee Valley. Mountain Sun Community School's middle school class spent four days paddling through history while taking water samples to analyze as part of a semester-long water quality study. The multi-faceted, experiential, backcountry adventure was one piece to the Coyote's study of the importance of high-quality water.
