The Transylvania Times -

INTERACT Is Inspirational

November 12, 2018

Even the headline for the article about INTERACT in Section B of the Nov. 5 issue is true inspiration because it says program participants “won’t give up.” The INTERACT program is part of Transylvania Vocational Services (TVS). TVS strives to support the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental challenges.

The acronym INTERACT means Interact, Network, Teach, Engage, Relate, Achieve, Connect Together.

INTERACT participants are fervent about community service, volunteering at a number of charitable organizations.

Jeanette Wayne, TVS’s INTERACT supervisor, wrote The Times article and she uses words and ideas that the rest of us could incorporate into our daily lives. For example, at a recent open house at TVS, a program using sign language was presented. Wayne reports that it was “a powerful experience. There were no distinctions of race, creed, gender, or disability. We were one unified equal.”

Our community is lucky to have TVS and its program, INTERACT. As the holiday season arrives, let us take inspiration from these programs.
