Free December Events Open To Families At The Library - Brevard NC

November 26, 2018

This holiday season, the Transylvania County Library Youth Services Department is hosting several events for families to get in the festive spirit and build camaraderie.

On Friday, Nov. 30, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., a family-friendly screening of a favorite Disney movie will take place. Costumes are welcome, so Elsas, Annas and Olafs are encouraged to don their best apparel. The movie will be shown in the Rogow Room, and popcorn is provided.

The annual Tree Trimming Party will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 2-3 p.m. Children can make a variety of holiday ornaments in the Youth Services area. Most ornaments will be used to decorate the library tree, but children can make one to take home and keep. Afterward, families can step outside and enjoy Brevard’s Christmas Parade on Broad Street that begins at 3 p.m.

The fourth annual Polar Express Pajama Party will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4-5 p.m. Children and their families can wear their PJs and sip warm cocoa while enjoying a reading of Chris VanAllsburg’s well-loved children’s book “The Polar Express.” A holiday craft and festive singing will follow. The event is recommended for ages 3 and up.

After the holidays when school is still closed, many families are looking for a fun indoor activity with friends. That’s why the library is hosting a Block Party! on Thursday, Dec. 27, from 3-5 p.m. Drop-in at the Storytime Room to meet up with friends and build with the library’s LEGO & Duplo bricks and Keva planks. All ages.

All library programs are free and open to the public thanks to support from the Friends of the Library. For more information, call 884-3151 ext. 3, or go to
