Outdoor Destination: Dry Falls In Nantahala National Forest

This week's Outdoor Destination is Dry Falls, on the Cullasaja River near Highlands, a 75' foot handicap accessible waterfall that can be walked behind.

The falls are located right off of U.S. 64 about an hour from Brevard. This stretch of U.S. 64 is known as a Mountain Scenic By-Way and between Highlands and Cashiers there are many view points, waterfalls and pull offs for photo opportunities and wildlife viewing.

Near the bottom of the Cullasaja Gorge is Dry Falls, which is aptly named, visitors to the falls can walk behind it without getting wet.
