An Overlooked President

Frequently, modest people who quietly do good work are often overlooked until they are gone. Then we realize their contributions, their subtle but steady work that has made life easier or better for us. That is the case of President George H.W. Bush, who passed away last Friday at the age of 94.

President Bush focused on getting the job done, on good governance, regardless of who received the credit. His mother taught him early in life that modesty and humility, not self-centeredness and braggadocio, are virtues. He was taught service to country is noble.
