Six Tigers Named To Smoky Mountain All-Conference Team - Rosman NC

The 2018 Rosman Tiger football team was well represented on the Smoky Mountain All-Conference team, with six Tigers earning a spot on the roster.

The list includes four seniors – Luke Stewart, Kayne Smith, Marcus Stamey and Christian Carnathan – and two juniors, Hooper Thomas and Brennan Chapman.

Smith, Stamey, Thomas, Carnathan and Chapman were named first team all-conference, while Stewart was named honorable mention.

Thomas led the team with 1,457 all-purpose yards, including a team-high 1,178 receiving yards.

The junior had 11 touchdowns on the season and finished with 80 tackles and two interceptions.

Chapman was a complement to the receiving corps.

He finished the year with 280 yards receiving and one touchdown catch.

Defensively, Chapman recorded 52 tackles and led the team with three interceptions.

Stamey was the Tigers' go-to player on the ground, averaging 4.5 yards per carry over 257 rushes to finish with 1,148 yards on the year.

He had six 100-yard rushing games and finished with nine TDs on the ground.

Carnathan and Smith were two of Rosman's defensive leaders.

Carnathan averaged nearly 10 tackles per game, finishing with a team-best 103 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and 72 solo tackles.

Smith was a menace in the backfield all season, finishing with 93 total tackles and a remarkable 23 tackles for loss.

He also led the team with eight sacks.

Stewart received an honorable mention nod in his third season under center for the Tigers.

He set new personal bests for yards (2,416), touchdowns (16) and completion percentage (60 percent) in a single season.

Stewart also rushed for 302 yards, along with six rushing TDs.
