County Seeks To Update Voluntary Agriculture District Law

A public hearing will be held on a proposed update of the county’s Voluntary Agriculture District (VAD) ordinance.

The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners approved holding the hearing during its recent meeting.

The county adopted a VAD ordinance in 1996. To date, there are 31 farms enrolled in the county.

One of the proposed changes in the ordinance would be going from VADs — French Broad Valley, Little River and Transylvania — to one, Transylvania.
