Cancer Center Returns To Hospital Drive - Brevard NC

January 3, 2019

After issues last year with mold and moisture, Transylvania Regional Hospital has reported that its cancer clinic and infusion center have both returned to 89 Hospital Drive

On Sept. 28, the discovery of mold and moisture in the Brevard Cancer and Infusion Center led to hospital officials temporarily relocating the facility to 159 Medical Park Drive, with the infusion services relocated to the main hospital.

The cancer clinic moved back on Dec. 24 and the infusion center returned on Dec. 31. Remediation was performed according to the highest standards and with qualified environmental professionals, according to Michele Pilon, the hospital’s president/CNO, in a news release.

“Those efforts are now complete and a thorough post-remediation in-spection by environmental experts showed that all areas were clean, humidity was at an acceptable level and the appropriate steps were taken to prevent conditions that could lead to such an issue in the future,” Pilon said. “Transylvania Hospital’s top priority is always to provide a safe and healing environment for our patients, families and team members.

“That is why when moisture and mold were discovered in our clinic space at 89 Hospital Drive we took prompt action to relocate the affected departments and fully remediate the issue even though our physicians and external experts reassured us that any potential concern for patients or staff was negligible.”
