The 2019 Bag Lunch Arts Series kicks off in January with “The Art of Recycling.” The program begins at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library and is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

The program will be presented by Joéle Emma, director of education at Asheville Greenworks. Emma will cover how to take care of the earth through recycling and composting, where your garbage goes, what can/can’t be recycled, the many products they’re turned into, and best practices for composting. GreenWorks is committed to growing the environmental literacy of communities as part of its mission to inspire, equip and mobilize people to take care of the places we love to live. Greenworks focuses on trees and bees for Buncombe County and waste reduction in the Land of Sky region of Western North Carolina.

The Bag Lunch Arts Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. Proceeds from Friends’ memberships and from book room sales help pay for all of the programming at the library. There is never a charge to attend programs and the public is invited to bring along a bag lunch to enjoy during this presentation. Refreshments for Bag Lunch are provided by the Friends and include cookies and coffee from Blue Ridge Bakery.
