Icy Weather

The recent ice storm brought down trees and a lot of people lost power. Thanks to the hard-working power company working in the rain, ice and cold for restoring power to a freezing community.

Crafty Ladies

The Crafty Ladies meet every Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Selica United Methodist Church. I guess because of the ice storm we had over the weekend, there were only two faithful ladies meeting this past Monday. Edna and Vickie went over to the Landings to visit with Sandy to wish her a happy birthday and take her birthday cards from the other ladies.

Bonnie’s Aunt Beulah Stalcup passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, she would have been 102 in May. Beulah lived in Canton. She worked at Hardee’s until she was 92 years old baking biscuits. She was a special lady. A memorial service will be held later. She will be missed by her family and friends. Pray for the family

My daughter-in-law Debi’s grandmother and mother-in-law to Vickie, Lillian Hunt Kirchheiner, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8. She was 97 years old and lived in Miami, Fla. They drove down for the funeral, which was held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Redlands Community Church in Homestead, Fla. Lillian was the widow of Henry Emiel. She loved to travel and was well loved by her family and friends. Pray for the family.

Prayers

Prayers for anyone in the hospital, nursing facilities and who are unable to take care of themselves, which is what we all want. Pray for utility workers who brave all kinds of weather, firefighters, law enforcement, our military and medical personnel.

Cathey’s Creek

Cathey’s Creek Township is centrally located in Transylvania County. Its history goes back to the 17th century. Some of the first people who inhabited this beautiful country were Native Americans and the tribes of the Creek, Yuchi and Cherokee. We still find today evidence that Native Americans hunted in this area by finding arrow and spearheads, flint piles and campsites.

Birthdays

Wishing Callen Whitmire a happy birthday on Jan. 22, and Sarah Alexander and Anita Goings Clark on Jan. 21. Enjoy your day. God bless.
