Tired Of Shutdown

January 21, 2019

I am really tired of this whole government shutdown fiasco, where politics seems to trump reason. Border security should not be about building a monument to one man’s ego. We can’t afford it. Every day we add to the national debt, with no end in sight. This irresponsible fiscal policy is not sustainable and will eventually be a drag on the economy and a burden to our children.

Border security is a small, but critical part of our federal budget. We should allocate only the funding we can truly afford, and then appoint experts in the field to determine how to most effectively use it to meet our goals.

This may mean barriers, electronic surveillance or more personnel. Neither bigotry nor political correctness should be a factor in this decision-making.
