'Rough Rider' Sought Universal Health Insurance

In 1912, former President Theodore Roosevelt put forth a series of progressive ideas to protect the health and well-being of the American people. At the top of his list stood universal health insurance. Not for the first time was the “Rough Rider” entering dangerous waters when he chose to stand up to the captains of industry, the medical profession and fellow politicians.
