Auditions for BLT’s next show “Play On!” will be held at the theater at 55 E. Jordan St. in Brevard on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.

A play within a play, a community theatre is producing a murder mystery with an inexperienced playwright. However, the plot doesn’t really have a murder and the playwright keeps changing the script. In addition, the cast is disgruntled, and the playwright accidentally deletes the entire sound effects board. All the disasters come to fruition in Act III when the company performs the actual show with hilarious mishaps at every turn.

Cast requirements are as follows:

Aggie Manville, a stage manager and prompter, any age; Geraldine Dunbar, a community theatre director, middle age; Henry Benish, a character actor, mid 50s; Polly Benish, a character actress, mid 50s; Marla Smith, a supporting player, late teens, early 20s; Saul Watson, a villain, mid 40s - 50s; Billy Carewe, a juvenile, 20s; Violet Imbry, an ingénue, 20s; Louise Peary, a sound and lighting and scenic technician, mid 30s - 50s; and Phyllis Montague, a novice playwright in the community, mid 30s - 50s.

The play runs for three weekends starting April 12 and rehearsals will begin soon after the cast is chosen. Contact Al Edick, the director, at or (828) 890-1495 with questions. Visit for more information.
